Programs

By embracing the teachings and philosophies of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the MLK Center provides the individual skills and family resources for residents in the Mid-North neighborhoods of Indianapolis to learn, grow and enhance their lives. We offer a peaceful space where neighbors can connect and provide quality, multi-generational programming for youth, seniors and families. The Center is a space to gather, celebrate, discuss and connect with other families. We believe that when our neighbors have access to all the tools they need to be successful, quality of life in our community will improve significantly.

Since 2016, Crime Prevention Funds from the Indianapolis Foundation have funded our research wtih the Indiana University Public Policy Institute to collect qualitative data and learn more about the circumstances, opinions and beliefs of the youth and young adults in our neighborhood. We reviewed administrative data from IMPD and quickly learned that additional work would need to be conducted to understand how crime-related behaviors start in our area, particularly among youth served by the MLK Center.
