Read To Lead
The MLK Center in partnership with The Indy Learning Team and IPS James Whitcomb Riley School #43 developed a systematic child-centered reading intervention and enrichment program year-round during out-of-school-time. Watch our video for more info. This program engages students in grades Pre-K through 5th grade and has seen amazing results so far. Our students are more than capable of being excellent readers when given the tools and support!
We Love reading.
The program is $61 per week. CCDF is accepted and scholarships are available. The after school program is also funded by the 21st Community Learning Center grant from the Indiana Department of Education.
We also receive funding from the Summer Youth Program Fund, Meridian Street United Methodist Church and many more for year-round programming. Check out our new video from Summer 2019!
In one year, we saw a 22% increase in the number of students reading at grade level, or just one grade below!
